Ingredients

  • Moong dal - 1/4 cup
  • Water -3 cups
  • Jaggery - 1/3 cup
    Coconut - 1/4 cup
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
  • For outer layer:-
  • Rice flour - 1.5 cups
  • Water -2 cups
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil - 1 tbsp

Method

Poornam (Stuffing)

  • Roast moong dal then boil until soft
  • Add jaggery, coconut, cardamom powder, mix well to make soft dough
  • Divide into equal size portions

Modak

  • Take a bowl , add rice flour, salt, oil & hot water mix well, cover lid, leave it for 5min.
  • 5 min later, knead it to make soft dough consistency.
  • Grease modak mould with ghee then fill the inner walls with rice flour dough mixture & leave some space for filling stuffing(poornam).
  • Now fill the stuffing and seal the bottom of the modak bottom.
  • Then demould & steam for 5 to 10 minutes. Then serve hot.
