Kadhambam Rice

Some dishes don’t have alternative and you cant get anywhere except it should be prepared by you or your mom. The flavor and taste of Kadhambam rice is so good. In our village we often make this Kadhambam rice whenever we get bored with lemon rice, tomato rice or any variety rice. It’s like half besibalabath plus half samabar sadham. Here are the ingredients and procedure goes on

Ingredients

Rice – 1 cup
Toor dal – 1 cup
Sambar powder- 1 tbs
1/2 cup Bengal gram – ½ cup
Tamarind extract- 1tbs
Mixed vegetables- 3 cups
salt to taste
red chillies-2 nos
Spring of curry leaves-few

Preparation

  • In a pan fry the mixed vegetables (do not over fry) for some time. Mix tamarind extract with samabr powder, salt, turmeric. Remove from flame after 5 minutes.
  • In a pressure cooker take rice with this mixture and add toordal and pressure cook (5 whistles).
  • Smash gently after cooked.
  • Heat oil in a pan put mustard seed and chillies. Let it splutter.
  • Mix this season with Kadhamba Sadham.
