Ingredients

  • Rice – 1 cup [boiled]
  • Omam[Carom seeds, Ajwain] – 1 ½ tbsp
  • Dry red chilli – 2
  • Peppercorns - 4
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Garlic – 2 cloves
  • Asafetida a pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • Gingelly oil [sesame oil, nal ennai]– 1 ½ tbsp

Preparation Method

  • Dry roast Omam, dry red chilli & peppercorns one by one then let it cool.
  • Put roasted ingredients in a mixer jar or stone mortar pestle & coarsely grind without water.
  • Heat gingelly oil in a pan, add curry leaves, garlic, & asafetida sauté. Then add freshly ground omam powder mixture.
  • Then add boiled rice & salt mix well.
  • Pour 1 tbsp of ginelly oil mix well then cut off heat. Serve hot.
