Ingredients

  • Chow chow [seema kathirikai, Chayote] – 1 cup [Peeled, chopped]
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Bengal gram – ½ tbsp
  • Urad dal – ½ tbsp
  • Asafetida a pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Water as needed

For Roasting & Grinding

  • Black sesame seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Dry red chilli – 1 to 2
  • Coconut – 2 tbsp [grated]
  • Heat oil in a pan roast above 3 ingredients & coarsely grind without water.

Method

  • Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds & let its splutter. Then add Bengal gram, urad dal & curry leaves.
  • Add chopped chow chow sauté then add turmeric powder & salt mix well then add water cook till soft.
  • Then add freshly ground sesame coconut mixture mix well & leave it for 1 min.
  • Then cut off heat & serve hot with rice.
