Ingredients

  • Avarakkai[Broad beans] – 1 cup
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tbsp
  • Urad dal – ½ tbsp
  • Bengal gram – ½ tbsp
  • Dry red chilli–1
  • Asafotida– ½ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Water as needed

For grinding

  • Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp [chopped]
  • Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp [chopped]
  • Garlic – 2 cloves [chopped]
  • Ginger – 1 tbsp [chopped]
  • Green chilli – 1 tbsp [chopped]
  • Coconut – 2 tbsp [grated]
  • Put above all ingredients in a mixer jar, grind to coarse paste or fine paste

Method

  • Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan add mustard seeds.
  • Add bengal gram, urad dal, asafoetida, dry red chilli & curry leaves
  • Add broad beans/Avarakkai, red chilli powder, turmeric powder & salt saute well
  • Add water cook till soft.
  • Add ground paste mix well, then cook for 3 min
  • Then cut off heat & serve hot with rice
